As reported by Masslive.com on Sunday, the 32nd Annual Pride March kicks off in Northampton, MA on May 4. The pride events in Northampton usually kick off the pride season around the country. Last year the events were inspired by President Barack Obama’s historic declaration supporting same-sex marriage and this year, through much progress, the theme will be “Our Journey is Not Complete.”
This year’s events will kick off with Mayor David Narkewicz’s customary reading of a proclamation dedicating the day to gay rights in the city and will feature a number of religious, political and inspirational speakers and its usual lineup of music, entertainment and fun for the entire family.
The Pride march will begin on Bridge Street and continue down Main Street and through downtown before ending with events at the Three County Fairgrounds where scheduled entertainment will include Karen Grenier who is a regular performer in Provincetown. Many local businesses, churches, organizations and school groups are expected to march in this year’s parade.
The parade will begin at noon and events are expected to continue until 5:30 p.m.
