New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is respected, extremely classy, and above all showcases heart and compassion for others. As reported by NESN on Thursday, Kraft weighed in on Jason Collins‘ decision to reveal he was gay by congratulating him
“My hearty congratulations to him,” Kraft said referring to the courage it took for Collins to come out and be the first active player in one of the four major sports to come out as gay. Kraft not only expressed his support, but also said he would welcome a gay player on the Patriots team as the focus is on winning.
“We’re about winning, and [if] someone can come in here and help us win, I don’t care what ethnic background, what racial background, what gender preference they have, if they can help us win and they’re about team then I’ll be happy to have them here.”
The issue on whether the NFL is ready for an active gay player continues to be a topic with many players saying the league is ready while some players still remain pessimistic about the readiness in the locker rooms. But no one truly knows until it happens, it is good to know that there is one owner who will be welcoming with open arms.
