Harris, who have been engaged to David Burtka for almost seven years, told E! Online in a report posted on June 30 that the couple will eventually get hitched.

With the Supreme Court’s historic rulings to struck down California’s Proposition 8 and the federal Defense of Marriage Act, the Hollywood star is pumped but states that the happy couple won’t rush a wedding. But he knows the big day will be worth the wait. He told E! Online:

“Certainly, we have children and marriage is an appropriate thing to do [as] a part of their well being, so I’m sure it will be inevitable – and awesome!”

Harris is not sure where they two will wed, but with marriages now resuming in California do to a decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday and their impending move to New York, a wedding can happen on either coast and whenever the couple is ready. There is nothing holding them back.

As far as the progress achieved for same-sex marriage on the historic day of June 26, Harris expressed excitement and pride.

“It’s logical. If you look at public opinion polls, everyone, the majority of people, are very for people that fall in love with each other being able to own that.”
