Nate BerkusInterior designer Nate Berkus and husband Jeremiah Brent are two happy daddies. Just months after the birth of their baby girl, the two are very much in love with their first child as two parents should be. On Wednesday, Berkus opened up about parenthood and the reason why they decided to name their daughter Poppy.

In an interview with PEOPLE at the Up2Us Sports Gala, the 43-year-old Berkus gushed about fatherhood and how much fun they are having with their gorgeous little sweetheart.

“The truth is we love being parents,” Berkus told the celebrity magazine. “Yesterday she liked monkey sounds and smiles and giggles and now she kicks her feet. So it’s really fun and neither of us have ever had more fun.”

Berkus babyPoppy was born via surrogate back in March. Berkus revealed that the name was decided before they knew they would be having a daughter. It was a name that basically came to them in a dream.

“Jeremiah had a dream that there was a little girl with dirty blonde hair and her name was Poppy. He woke up and he was like, ‘Do you like the name Poppy?’ And I do, so that’s her,” Berkus continued.

Fatherhood has certainly been a dream for Berkus and Brent and the two are looking forwards to more treasured moments as they experience the growth of their little girl Poppy.
