It took months of protests and debate by anti-gay marriage conservative and religious groups, but finally same-sex couples are allowed to marry and start families in France. The Associated Press reports on Saturday that French President Francois Hollande has signed a law authorizing both gay marriage and adoption by same-sex couples.
With the signing of the law, France becomes the 14th country to legalize gay marriage. The unity of marriage will start being celebrated within 10 days. Though a majority of French people support gay marriage, the issue didn’t not go without protest and violence.
