France becomes 14th country to legalize gay marriage

Fran_ois-Hollande_2205281bIt took months of protests and debate by anti-gay marriage conservative and religious groups, but finally same-sex couples are allowed to marry and start families in France. The Associated Press reports on Saturday that French President Francois Hollande has signed a law authorizing both gay marriage and adoption by same-sex couples.

With the signing of the law, France becomes the 14th country to legalize gay marriage. The unity of marriage will start being celebrated within 10 days. Though a majority of French people support gay marriage, the issue didn’t not go without protest and violence. In April, protests broke out between protesters and riot police after the country announced the legalization of gay marriage.  READ More at Examiner.com
